This year, Gosport Community Safety Partnership launched it's first ever 'Have Your Say' event, which was held at Brune Park Community College on Wednesday 26th August 2009 and compered by Sally Taylor MBE. The evening provided a unique opportunity for members of the public to to listen to and quiz a distinguished Panel of experts, including the local Borough Police Commander, a leading local criminal judge - His Honour Judge Ian Pearson, the Leader of Gosport Borough Council (and Chair of the Community Safety Partnership) and NHS Hampshire's Director of Public Health.

Attendees also had the chance to participate in 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' style electronic voting on the crime and anti social behaviour issues here in Gosport. These views will contribute to the future direction of the Gosport Community Safety Partnership and how it tackles crime and disorder problems here in Gosport. You can watch a video of the event, which shows just what a fantastic evening this was to participate in and the results of the quiz and evaluations.

You can also read the responses to questions that the panel just didn't have time to answer, as there were so many interesting questions posed by the audience.

In addition to this, a more informal opportunity to quiz senior representatives of the Partnership was held on Saturday 22nd August at the Market on the High Street. Lots of people took the time to stop and give their views on crime and safety in their neighbourhoods by talking to the local Borough Police Commander, The Leader of Gosport Borough Council and Hampshire Fire Service Group Manager. People also completed questionnaires and using post-it notes, highlighted some of these issues on large maps of their area. (PHOTO). The results of these can be found below in the useful downloads below.
We will be holding an annual event and plan a similar event for 2010 but there are other ways you can 'have your say' throughout the year - you can find out how on the 'My Neighbourhood' pages.
