In December 2009, the Community Safety Partnership carried out a consultation in White Lion Walk and the surrounding area. We asked what issues most concerned residents about the area they live in and these included rubbish, neighbour disputes and drunken behaviour. You can find full details of the consultation in the word document below.
To start to address some of these problems, a ‘Week of Action’ was implemented with help from agencies such as the Police, Gosport Borough Council, Hampshire Fire and Rescue, Community Payback Team and Motiv8. Initiatives included provision of a community skip, removal of overgrown shrubs and graffiti, Youth activity sessions and advice sessions on housing, alcohol and drug awareness and victim support.
Although this was a positive start in helping to improve the area, there are still three main issues identified by residents that need addressing:
We want to work together with residents to try and address these problems over the long term. We will be asking three questions about these main issues and residents will write their comments on boards, which will be situated by the small play area in White Lion Walk.
