Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service work to improve the safety of people in their homes. This is achieved by delivering safety education to all members of our communities. They work in partnership with local authorities and other agencies to identify those people most at risk – children, young people and the elderly – and target them with risk reduction campaigns.
Young Firefighters Association (YFA)
A YFA scheme was started in Gosport in September 2012. It provides mentoring for young people at risk of becoming involved in Anti-Social Behaviour by providing the opportunity to join a uniformed youth organisation that is directly involved with the Fire and Rescue Service.
The course takes place on Thursday evenings at Gosport Fire Station. The YFA programme includes practical and theoretical Fire and Rescue Service drills, similar to that of an operational firefighter.
The aims of the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Young Firefighters Association are:
To recruit young people and allow them the opportunity of joining a uniformed Youth Organisation.
To assist in the member’s development, both mentally and physically while promoting self-discipline, social consciousness and community awareness.
To foster the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership among the members.
To promote the Fire Service and to increase awareness of Fire Safety.
