What does it mean to wear a White Ribbon?

Wearing a White Ribbon is a personal pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.  Although the White Ribbon Campaigns central focus is on men, many women have actively support the work of the White Ribbon Campaign because they believe in tackling violence as its roots.

Each year, people are urged to wear a ribbon for one week, starting on 25th November 2011, the International Day for the Eradication of Violence Against Women.

The Gosport Community Safety Partnership, along with the Accredited Community Safety Officers, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and Fareham and Gosport Family Aid, will be raising awareness of domestic abuse outside the Town Hall on Friday 25th November 2011.  Pop along to the Community Safety Van to collect your White Ribbon between 11am – 3pm.  There will also be hot refreshments and cakes available free of charge.
