Silver Sunday – 4th October 2020

This annual event takes place on Sunday 4th October 2020 and is the National Day for celebrating Older people.

With varying social distancing restrictions remaining in place across the UK, activities for Silver Sunday will look different this year but they are needed more than ever with risks of loneliness and isolation compounded by the Covid-19 related restrictions.

With that in mind, is there something you do to celebrate older people in your local community or help an older family member or frient feel less isolated?  Little things can make a huge difference:

  • A simple phone call can make someone’s day – call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.
  • Bake a cake for a neighbour or family member (and deliver observing the social distancing rules.
  • Host a virtual meet up
  • Help someone access online activities or networks – below are just a few taking place on the day:

London on the Move – Virtual tour of Soho

Guildford Fringe – Live festival

Virtual Travel – Backpacking around Europe

Charterhouse Gallery – tour & writing workshop
