Lockdown led to increase in young people engaging in risky online behaviour

A recent survey carried out by Brook – the UK’s leading sexual health and wellbeing charity for young people, uncovered some worrying statistics from  the 7,000 students that took part.

The Daily Mail highlighted the results from the anonymous survey of pupils in Year 9 and above which revealed:

  • 18% would send a naked selfie to their partner during lockdown
  • 19% would accept expensive gifts from someone they had met recently online
  • 34% had recently started a new online relationship due to lockdown
