Labourer is remanded in custody after church raid

Magistrates have remanded a man in custody over an alleged break-in at a church.

Wayne Ranson is accused of kicking in the back door of the Solent Evangelical Church in Forton Road, Gosport, between October 5 and 7.

Father-of-two Ranson, of Kealy Road, Gosport, denies a charge of burglary with intent to steal.  He is due to appear back before magistrates via a video-link from prison in December when the case will be sent to the crown court.

Chairwoman of the bench Judy Bryan said: ‘We are remanding you into custody until then.  You have elected to have your case at the crown court.  It will be committed to the crown court in December.’
