About Gosport Passport Scheme

The Gosport Passport Scheme is a partnership of different agencies which provide a range of FREE, positive activities for 11-17 year olds to enjoy in their local community. The aim of the scheme is to benefit local communities by providing diversionary activities to deter instances of anti social behaviour through utilising existing leisure resources and communal spaces whilst helping young people to stay safe and make a positive contribution.

The scheme was piloted during the summer of 2008, when over 500 young people participated in the scheme.  The initial success was continued in April 2009 when over 200 young people enjoyed the Easter programme which included scuba diving, human inflatable bowling, 'pass it on' style cooking and free ice-skating!

This summer, 708 different young people accessed the scheme where new activities included Quad biking, advice surgeries, holistic therapies, canoeing and culminated in a Beach party to celebrate the end of the fun filled three weeks.  Some of the feedback from young people included:

“It was amazing”

“I had great fun and I can now climb the climbing wall and kinda play football”

“I think there are some things I would never have been able to do before”

“Its very good as its free and you can go with mates”

And it wasn’t just happy participants but thrilled parents too:

  • Sharon- "My daughter has been for two days on the trot and has loved it, came back exhausted today after two times round the scuba dive pool. This scheme is brilliant, I couldn't thank the organisers and volunteers enough, thank you."
  • Lisa "kids loved it! roll on next year :)"
  • Lorraine"couldn’t agree more my son has loved it !"
