The Community Safety Partnership recognises that a high percentage of Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour incidents are impacted by drink or drugs. Data from the last Strategic Assessment shows that over 10% of crimes were impacted by alcohol or drugs, although the real figure is likely to be much higher.
The Partnership tackles drug and alcohol related offending through a number of ways, including identifying hotspot locations through the monthly CTCG meeting and tasking accordingly as well as local initiatives such as the Know Your Limits campaign. Gosport was also identified as a pilot area for the Community Alcohol Partnership to be ran in Hampshire and this was launched in April 2012.
This years campaign title is: 'Give me a break'. The message is that people should have at least two alcohol free days each week. This has been identified as a simpler, clearer and easier approach for individuals to take control of within their normal patterns of drinking.
